Giants sign Sorgi

The Giants have officially announced the signing of quarterback Jim Sorgi, who is set to back up Eli Manning as the No. 2 quarterback on the roster for next season. Some reports have the undisclosed deal listed for one-year and worth $1.15 million dollars. The contract also contains a per-game roster bonus, which means that some of the money Sorgi will make depends on how many games he plays in. For only around one million dollars, this isn’t a bad deal for the Giants.
Sorgi to Visit Giants

Since David Carr has left the Giants to sign with the 49ers, the Giants have been in need of a quarterback to be second to Eli Manning. However, it just so happens that the Colts released backup quarterback Jim Sorgi last week, who has played behind Eli’s brother Peyton for the past six seasons.
Sorgi is set to visit and work out with the Giants tomorrow. The Giants also have Rhett Bomar at quarterback, but he still needs at least another year or two of experience to move up in the second slot. I’m sure the two sides will have a deal by the end of the week.
Giants Sign Rolle

The Giants made a big move last night, locking up free agent safety Antrel Rolle to a five-year deal worth $37 million dollars. This is great news for the Giants and their defense, which fell apart last season. Rolle was released Thursday by the Cardinals after he rejected their six-year offer, and then at that point the Giants went after him hard. This 27-year-old free safety has great play-making ability and is not afraid to make big hits, making him a solid player for the Giants.
